Gross Domestic Product (GDP)

« Back to Glossary Index

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Total value of goods and services produced in a country during a period, usually a year, deducting what is consumed in production, i.e., the final total value. The basic criterion is territoriality, so unlike Gross National Product (GNP), it includes what is produced by foreigners in the country but not what is produced by nationals outside the country.
